The 20th Century's most perplexing, and potentially most-disastrous, dilemma, will strike pricisely as it's last year -- 2000 -- begins. Will it be the proverbial "bump in the road?" Or TEOTWAWKI... "The end of the world as we know it?" Or some degree of disruption lying somewhere in between those incomprehensively widely-separated points? No one knows. But there are LOTS of educated guesses, based on many demonstrable and provable facts. These books are hand-picked by Xanadu to provide you with an excellent cross-section of the prevailing opinions.

Everyone's Guide to Making A MILLION DOLLARS on the Year 2000 Crash
This was great reading. This is the only book that I found that addresses the potential effects of Y2K on the financial markets. This adds easy-to-understand details to the market sell-off that Dr. Edward Yardeni has now predicted. Mr. Elliott has covered many areas in the stock market and the commodity markets. This should be a warning to many Americans living abroad! Turn a disaster into a positive financial event. Only the foolish would ignore the impending potential from Y2K. This is a great how to do it book.

The must-have "BIBLE" for investment success!
This informative, no-hype, "pedal-to-the-metal" book is a "must have" for anyone interested in being successful in trading the markets! Not only does Mr. Elliott explain the Y2K problem in detail, he does it in a way that the average person can understand. This book literally provides you with a "roadmap" to guide you through the twists and turns of the complex investment maze. With all the "bogus" Y2K information available to the public today, it is a breath of fresh air to have such a simple guide to understanding the real problems that will be facing us in the near future.
Concise, straight forward, factual information that "anyone" can use and "everyone" needs. I will be giving copies of this book to all my friends and family so that they will have the ability to understand, and profit from, the coming computer crisis!

Informative, educational, eye-opening and motivational.
The author does a great job of introducing the reader to the full scope of the Y2K problem. Then he shows the reader multiple strategies for capitalizing on the millenial bug and even gives the reader the information needed to get started right away. An important book to read and re-read. If you know anyone who should learn about the Y2K problem, tell them to buy this book (you won't want to lend your copy out!!) Well researched and very complete. Well worth the cover price. Reading it has changed the way I am investing for the future.

How to Survive Y2K Chaos in the City: A Preparedness and Self-Reliance Handbook
Review:
From the Publisher --
[This] is the first of a series of books the City and Urban Survival Education Series. These books are designed to provide people who live in the city or suburbs with the most complete, practical, easy-to-use information about how to achieve self-reliance for themselves and their families -- right where they live!
[The book] was written to help people become adequately prepared to keep themselves and their family safe in any emergency situation but especially to prepare for the most potentially devastating man-made disaster set to strike at -- midnight, January 1, 2000. In the day's that follow, many people may find themselves in homes without heat, light, water or food. For most of the major industrial nations this event will occur at the beginning of winter. Experts predict that power outages, food shortages, and serious disruptions to all essential services will not only be a possibility, but a certainty. People who live in the city and suburbs will be the most vulnerable because most are completely dependant on electricity, tap water and their local grocery store. How to Survive Y2k Chaos in the City was specifically written to help the urban dweller prepare to meet these challenges and come out a survivor.

Contains simple, straightforward, useful information.
I recommend this book to anyone with concerns about Y2K. It contains simple, straightforward, easy-to-use information arranged in an easy-to-navigate format. Included are lists of a variety of survivial materials and supplies from foods, clothing and bedding to medicines, repair materials, heating supplies, and so on. These lists would be useful for many other kinds of emergencies and would help in disaster preparedness. I plan to buy copies for my family members.

Y2K The Millennium Bug: A Balanced Christian Approach

Truly Inspiring.
Being a person who works in computer-field, you become real tired of hearing about the "Y2K" bug because you are dealing with it on a daily basis. Being a Christian, you get sick of hearing about doomsday, etc., etc. This book, however, was a pleasant and inspiring change. Mixed with facts and stories of possible Y2k affects on fictional characters, she makes you stop and think. Being Y2K prepared isn't about storing food, heading for the hills, etc. It's really about being wise and spiritual prepared all the time regardless of a programming bug. Not everyone will get it, but praise God for those who do.

A Much-Needed Addition to the Y2K Noise.
Although I thought the book contained a few too many stories the practical suggestions and organizational hints were excellent. Ms. Feldhahn writes, as she should, from a Christian perspective and suggests to readers who might share her faith, how one might address this largely unanswerable issue in light of Christian faith. Prudent preparation not panic and faith instead of fear are the order of the day! Ms. Feldhahn does a tremendous job of presenting the case for both!

I'm ready to act like a Christian now!
Even if nothing comes of the whole Y2K crisis. I was challenged to look at life from an altruistic perspective rather than the narcisistic perspective. As the Christian church we have lost much of our desire to serve. We have let the church become an entity that accepts charitable contributions.
When in its most prosperous times it was a charitable body giving to needs beyond the "new addition" {or] the "new carpet." OK, Shaunti, I am ready to start acting like a Christian again. Thanks.

Of many, the BEST single source I've read!
Thanks, Shaunti! I'm convinced that you were led by God to write this book; and while you were studying the "Experiencing God" Bible study, which I too have completed; God's timing is indeed perfect!
Y2K: The Mellennium Bug, for me, is the best single source of several months of internet reading from the Christian perspective. Even non-Christians may be stopped in their tracks to consider God's work in our world at this time.
My focus has gone from personal survival planning to what does God expect of me in providing for my family but also those to whom Jesus would minister if He were here during this awesome period of our existence. Time is wasting; let's find out where God is working and join Him. NOW!

Y2K, Crying Wolf or World Crisis
Review:
The author, James F. Gauss (E-mail: isaiahp@mnic.net), wrote --
Y2K impacts can be moderated by churches and communities...
By now there are quite a few books dealing with the Year 2000 computer problem and its potential impact on our economy and way of life. In my book I spend about one-third of its volume on highlighting the problem areas as the experts see them. The remaining two-thirds of the book I focus on what individuals, churches, and communities should be doing to become spiritually and practically prepared in case the worst (or something less) happens. I also describe the economic factors that could make this "glitch" worse than even some experts predict. As a financial advisor, I originally had no intent on writing a book on this topic. But the more I researched it and the more I understood its potential economic impact, the more I realized that individuals and families, churches, and communities needed to be informed and take this problem seriously. That is why the book spends so much time on preparedness issues, and I believe it is the only Year 2000 book that comes with a separate FREE Y2K preparedness manual with a preparedness check-off list. As you read through the book and discover all the facets of preparedness, please realize, that as individuals we have limited resources to prepare for any crisis, but as communities of neighbors and church bodies, our pooled efforts will go a long way to meeting the needs of all.
Yes, Y2K is the greatest technological problem our country or the world has ever faced, but the solutions to dealing with it and overcoming it reside in our faith and willingness to join together and serve one another for the good of the whole. While the subject has been treated by others with much doom and gloom (and it has that potential), I think you will be uplifted by the positive results that working together to overcome the impact of Y2K can bring to your church life and community.
